I have followed Justyn Boumah since he wrote his first book! I finally caught up to him to ask a few questions to include in the Vegas Kids Zone Spotlight series, which includes a tween CEO, a Make-a-Wish ambassador who battles Cystic Fibrosis and local kids who make their community better with their actions. It’s part of the Teen Career Tips series where local professionals share advice for kids who want to work in their field, share obstacles they encountered and how they overcame them. Entrepreneurship can help kids prepare for the future, gain confidence and skills.
From a young age, a very young age, Justyn Boumah has had ambition and an infectious smile. At the age of 6, he has been to 4 continents, 7 countries, and over 15 cities in 12 months. His family helped him create The Traveling Toddler to support his many interests, from author to baker and philanthropist.
He has written three books about his interests, from a memorable birthday bash to his recent travels. The Traveling Toddler Goes to Monaco, which in 2019 won the Gold Indie award, as well as The Traveling Toddler goes to the Dominican Republic and The Birthday Bash and a coloring book!
I had a chance to talk to Justyn this summer after his return from Paris, France.
How did you get started writing books?
I wrote my first story all by myself when I was 4 years old. Me and Mommy have been writing together since I was 2. Mommy and I travel around the world. It’s pretty fun. I started writing books because I wanted kids to have stress-less travel fun.
Tell us about your books!
I write them with my mom about all I see and do when we go on big vacations around the world. In the Traveling Toddler Goest to Monaco, Justyn Dominique has unforgetta
ble stops by bus, eats a lot of treats and in my visits to the D.R., we had a first-class trip, swam with dolphins and got to explore the second-largest country in the Caribbean. The Birthday Bash is was all about my family and celebrating.
What inspires you?
My mommy inspires me.
What is the goal of your business?
For kids and parents to have travel experiences worth doing again.
What is your most popular product?
Either our Las Vegas Coloring Book or our Chef Justyn Recipe Book, both are really popular of all the books I write.
What are your future goals?
To write more stories and help people. Helping is fun.
What advice can you give other kids who may want to start a business?
Just do it! It’s so fun!
What continues to inspire you?
My mommy. I also like volunteering and helping people in my community.
What has been a favorite part of writing/running your business?
My CEO work and making up stories. Stories can be or have anything and it’s fun to think about that stuff.
